Some brows fade slowly with age. Others are lost suddenly — through chemotherapy, alopecia, hormonal and thyroid changes, or scarring. And some never recovered from the plucking trends of decades past.
Whatever took your brows, restoring them is my specialty. Not fashion brows. Not trends. Brows that make you look in the mirror and see yourself again.
Restorative Brow Tattooing
Who this is for?
You might have:
Partial or complete brow loss from alopecia (areata, totalis or universalis)
Brows that didn't fully return after chemotherapy or radiation
Thinning from menopause, hormonal or thyroid changes
Brows affected by scarring or trauma
Age-related thinning, or overplucked brows that never grew back
An old brow tattoo that's faded, discoloured or was never right
If you have very little or no natural brow hair at all — that is exactly the work I do most, and love most.
More than a beauty treatment
Losing your brows changes your face in a way that's hard to explain to people who haven't experienced it. Brows frame every expression we make. When they go, many of my clients tell me they stopped recognising themselves — that it was the brows, more than anything else, that made them feel like they looked unwell, or older, or simply not them.
Restoring them isn't about beauty. It's about looking like yourself again. That's the whole job.
Timing matters -
especially around medical treatment
This is the part I most want you to know, because I meet too many people who found out too late.
If you've been diagnosed and are preparing for chemotherapy, it may be possible to have your brows tattooed before treatment starts, while your skin is best placed to heal — so your brows are already in place if your natural brows are lost. This depends on your treatment timeline and requires the okay of your treating medical team. If this is you, please reach out sooner rather than later.
Before treatment begins.
Cosmetic tattooing is generally not suitable during chemotherapy or radiation, because treatment affects your skin's ability to heal safely. If you're mid-treatment, I'm still happy to talk — we can plan ahead for when the time is right.
During active treatment.
Once your treating team confirms your skin has recovered and you're cleared for cosmetic tattooing, we can begin. Everyone's timeline is different, and there's no rush — your brows will be worth the wait.
After treatment.
In all cases involving medical treatment or a medical condition.
I ask for clearance from your treating doctor before we proceed. No exceptions. This protects you, and it's how this work should be done.
What a consultation looks like
Every restorative journey starts with a free, no-pressure phone consultation. We'll talk about:
- Your situation and your timing — including where you are in any treatment
- What's realistic for your skin and your brows
- Whether cosmetic tattooing is right for you at all — and I will tell you honestly if it isn't, or if now isn't the time
- Every question you have, unhurried
There's no obligation and nothing to prepare. It's just a conversation.Your Questions, Answered
-
Often, yes — if there's enough time for your skin to fully heal before treatment begins, and your treating team agrees. Healing typically takes a few weeks. If you're preparing for treatment, contact me as early as you can so we can look at your timeline together.
-
Generally no. Treatment affects healing and infection risk, so tattooing during active chemotherapy or radiation isn't appropriate. What we can do is plan — so that when you're cleared, everything is ready.
-
It varies from person to person, which is why I ask for clearance from your treating doctor rather than giving a blanket timeframe. Once you're cleared, we can go ahead.
-
That's a good thing — and it's why I design conservatively for clients whose hair may return. Tattooed brows work with regrowth, not against it. We'll talk about this in your consultation.
-
Alopecia doesn't prevent beautiful results — much of my favourite work is for clients with alopecia. What it can affect is how we design: if your alopecia is active or unpredictable, I'll design brows that look right with or without natural hair, and I'll be upfront about what to expect.
-
This is the most common fear, and the answer is no — not the way I work. My whole approach is soft, natural brows suited to your face and age. Most people in your life will never guess.
Cosmetic tattooing is not suitable for everyone. Where a medical condition or medical treatment is involved, clearance from your treating medical team is required before proceeding.
